Responsible procurement

In June 2006 the GLA group: Greater London Authority (GLA), London Development Agency (LDA), Transport for London (TfL), London Fire Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA), Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS),  adopted a Responsible Procurement Policy to support the delivery of the Mayor’s vision for London. The GLA group has defined ‘responsible procurement’ as the purchase of goods, works and services in a socially and environmentally responsible way that delivers value for money and benefits to the contracting authority and to London.

The Mayor has published a Responsible Procurement report which highlights progress in ensuring that London gets the maximum benefit from the way in which the Group makes its £3 billion plus annual purchases of goods, works and services. It sets out what has been delivered in the first year of implementation with specific case studies, and summarises how the Group plans to take Responsible Procurement forward.

(FB) encourages its Contractors, and their sub contractors to follow the Responsible Procurement principles. (FB) will incorporate provisions into procurement processes, including specifications, where appropriate terms and conditions of contract, and performance management to support the implementation of the Responsible Procurement Policy.
