Amendment to committee calendar

Summary

This report seeks members’ approval to amend the current committee calendar. It is proposed to reinstate an Authority meeting for June 2008, cancel the 3 July full Authority meeting and hold the annual meeting of the Authority in May 2008.

A. Recommendation

That the committee calendar be amended.

1. to re instate and Authority meeting on 26 June 2008 and cancel the scheduled meeting on 3 July 2008; and

2. to hold the annual meeting of the Authority on 29 May 2008.

B. Supporting information

1. Members will be aware that the Home Office are currently in the process of confirming the appointment arrangements of independent members to police authorities and have granted existing independent and magistrate members an extension to their current term of office until 30 September 2008.

2. This decision has affected the already agreed calendar of meeting for 2008, in that the calendar was drafted with the expectation of London Assembly members to the Authority and Independent members being in place to hold an annual meeting of the Authority in early July 2008.

3. In the light of the Home Office decision and with committees meetings scheduled for June 2008, it is proposed to hold the annual meeting of the Authority on 29 May 2008 and cancelling the scheduled annual meeting on 3 July 2008.

4. It is also proposed to reinstate an Authority meeting on 26 June 2008 (10.00 am).

In drafting the calendar, consideration has been given to possible religious holidays and observances
