Metropolitan Police Authority public meeting Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee

The Metropolitan Police Authority’s Consultation, Diversity & Outreach Committee are holding their meeting in Greenwich on Tuesday, 26 September 2000, starting at 6pm. On this occasion there will be an opportunity for the general public to ask questions and put their views to the Committee. There will also be an opportunity to speak to individual members of the Committee after the meeting.

Announcing the venue for the meeting, the Chair of the Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee, R. David Muir, said:

"The work of the Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee is vital in building effective partnerships with London’s diverse communities.

“We want a police service which has the confidence and trust of their local communities and it is our intention to have many of our meetings in community venues to facilitate local participation and greater understanding of the work of the Metropolitan Police Authority and its Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee. Our objective is to make London a safe and enjoyable place to live and work."

The Agenda will include:

• Lay Visiting to Police Stations
• The Vienna Convention
• The Development of a Consultation Strategy for the MPA/MPS
• Consulting the public about the 2001/02 Policing and Performance Plan
• A number of community related initiatives
