MPA Consultation Committee visits Havering

35/01
5 June 2001

The Metropolitan Police Authority’s Consultation, Diversity & Outreach Committee will hold its next meeting in Havering on Tuesday 26 June 2001 at St Edward's Comprehensive School, London Road, Romford RM7 9NX from 6pm.

The committee, which deals with community consultation, safety, crime reduction and diversity in policing, on behalf of the MPA, meets in a different borough each month.

During the open meeting, 30 minutes will be allotted for members of the public to put questions and their views to members of the committee.

Chair of the Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee, R. David Muir, said:

"The work of the Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee is vital in building effective partnerships with London’s diverse communities.

We want a police service which has the confidence and trust of their local communities and it is our intention to have many of our meetings in community venues to facilitate local participation and greater understanding of the work of the Metropolitan Police Authority and its Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee. Our objective is to make London a safe and enjoyable place to live and work."

Notes to editors

The Metropolitan Police Authority took over responsibility for the Metropolitan Police Service from the Home Secretary on 3 July 2000.
