'Counter-Terrorism: The London Debate' - Metropolitan Police Authority takes the debate to London's local communities

‘Counter-Terrorism: The London Debate’ is the MPA programme of community engagement to counter terrorism. The MPA has been holding pan-London meetings with invited representatives from specific groups but now wants to widen the debate by taking it out to community consultative meetings in every London borough. MPA link members will attend meetings held on their link boroughs.

Toby Harris, MPA member with special responsibilities for counter-terrorism, said:

“The Metropolitan Police Authority recognises the potential Londoners themselves have to contribute to the safety and security of the capital and all its communities.

“We want to enable Londoners to communicate their views and concerns to the police. We hope this will lead to better informed policing as well as a clearer public understanding of the complexities involved in counter-terrorism policing.

“Good police intelligence comes from people knowing what is going on around them. The MPA wants to foster a sense of public ownership of the problems and the solutions so we can work together with all Londoners to help prevent future terrorist attacks.”
