Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 established the formation of statutory Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP’s). Essentially this legislation enshrines in law the idea that crime reduction is not the responsibility of just one agency, such as the police, but is a partnership responsibility.

Crime and Disorder is tackled across London by CDRPs in each of the 32 London boroughs. They are made up of a combination of police, local authorities and other organisations and businesses who have banded together to develop and implement strategies for tackling crime and disorder on a local level.

The Police Reform Act 2002 amended the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to add police authorities, fire authorities and Primary Care Trusts to the statutory CDRP.

The MPA is represented on the borough CDRP’s by the Link Members. The link Members and CDRP’s are supported by the Partnership Support Officers of the MPA.

Safer London Problem Solving Awards

The Problem Solving Awards are a collaboration between the MPA, MPS and the The Safer London Foundation, celebrating initiatives that develop problem oriented policing techniques – in essence projects that are responsive to local needs, are people focused and address the causes of crime, not just the consequences. The projects are conceived and put into practice in partnership between local police and communities.
